RIVER RIDGE RANCH RULE #7

What's the point of developing all the other skills in the book if it doesn't have an eternal impact?

The Bible has two main themes. One is we are lost because of our sin nature. You can't find the trail to heaven without Jesus. His blood and resurrection is the FREE GIFT and only bridge to heaven. We only have to say yes!

Pretty important to get that one right!

The second big theme is about making your life count. The Bible makes it very clear we are only here for a brief moment in time, but we can do things that will last for eternity.

God says, IF you do this, THEN this will happen. In Proverbs we are encouraged to chase wisdom. Joshua tells us not to lose heart. The Bible is full of life strategies. It explains how to win and how to lose. We can choose life or choose death.

So, we'd be wise to bury our faces in the Bible and figure out all the ways to live a life of eternal significance and impact.

At the end of the book, we find out that once a month Jack rides out with Lonestar to an old tree with a barrel by it, where he drops in a horseshoe.

He doesn't know how many more "horseshoes" he has left. Each one is a gift. But he does not there will come a day when he won't make the ride.

The Bible says it is wise for us to count the number of our days. Have a sense of urgency and intentionality about what you will leave behind in the lives of others as well as what you are sending ahead of you.
